I am Reality Observer. I enjoy watching TV shows, sports and movies, good and bad. Some of my favorite programs included Monty Python's Flying Circus for the absolute silliest and stupidest comedy ever, Mystery Science Theater 3000 because making comments during the movies is what I always did anyway, and shows like M*A*S*H that took wit to a new level. I like comedy in almost any form, W.C. Fields slapstick and other 1930's comedies were great, also magazines like Mad Magazine and especially National Lampoon were always on my reading list. I certainly do enjoy to laugh.
I don't watch every reality show that comes along, but certain ones I do find interesting. Way back when in the 1970's, National Geographic would have a special show that would be a documentry about certain things. Once they did one called 'Ben's Mill', about an old timer who ran a carpentry mill using a water powered water wheel. Absolutely fascinating to me, it took you back to simpler times. Another that I really enjoyed was 'Yukon Passage', about a group of four young men who travel by foot, raft and dogsled across the Yukon into Alaska. If you get the chance, watch it, it is on You Tube and here is a link...
It is narrated by the late great James Stewart.
So anyway, anything with Alaska themed narratives have always interested me, and several shows such as 'Gold Rush' and others that take place in Alaska I felt were worth watching. I also watched stuff like 'Amish Mafia' and 'Duck Dynasty', and felt that both were incredibly staged and scripted to the point of absurdity. So I began to write short, satirical and parody laced recaps of those shows and would post them on a now long gone website.
So then I saw a new reality show, namely the 'Alaskan Bush People', and it looked like an interesting show so I watched it. Within about three episodes I could see that this wasn't really a well produced show, and the main goal was to prove to us city folk the intricacies of bush life via the Brown family. Some of the stuff looked authentic, but a lot did not. A quick search located several people who wrote great recaps of this show and they did not hold back. I thought, well I can do that also, so I got on the PC and started writing. That was about five years ago. I noticed one great recapper doing the recap but they also included some truly funny memes, and I thought, I can do that also...
I have had great fun doing these and still am having fun. I have ruffled a few feathers along the way, apparently from fans who think the Brown family is the real deal and the greatest family on earth.
That's my story, glad you have checked out the site, there was a lot more (other episode recaps) but things happen and it is just me and this one for now...
